黎瑞恩 爱你这样傻 EP

The 《黎瑞恩 爱你这样傻 》 Remix Single EP (officially categorized as a Maxi-Single) was a tactical release by PolyGram Records on January 1, 1994 for Vivian Lai (黎瑞恩).

In the 1990s Hong Kong music industry, dropping a 4-track EP right after a successful studio album was a popular strategy to sustain a singer’s chart momentum, push a secondary radio single, and offer collectors rare alternative versions. A bit like our friend, 罗志祥 and his multiple releases of same album (original album, celebratory album, platinum celebration album, the remix dance album, my-mum-gave-birth-to-a-baby album etc).

💿 黎瑞恩 爱你这样傻 The 4-Track Lineup

The EP acts as a definitive showcase of Vivian Lai’s most iconic era, striking a balance between raw acoustic talent and upbeat 90s pop:

  • Track 1: “Love You This Silly” (爱你这样傻) [Unplugged Version]
    • The Twist: Stripped away the heavy synthesizers of the 1993 album mix. It relies on organic instrumentation, giving Vivian’s vocals a closer, more intimate “live” texture.
  • Track 2: “One Person Has One Dream” (一人有一个梦想)
    • The Heavy Hit: Her absolute signature song. Adding this smash hit to the tracking list ensured the EP would fly off the shelves. [12]
  • Track 3: “Swear” (发誓)
    • The Deep Cut: A dramatic track penned and produced by Angas (安格斯). It highlights a broader, more emotionally intense vocal range than her usual sweet ballads.
  • Track 4: “The Rainy Season Will Not Return” (雨季不再来)
    • The Early Gem: Written by fellow Cantopop singer-songwriter Chris Wong (黄凯芹), this track features an intricate guitar arrangement by Teddy Su (苏德华).

🎙️ The “Unplugged” Trend of the 90s

This EP was highly indicative of the time period. Sparked by the massive global success of MTV Unpluggedseries in the early 1990s, Hong Kong labels routinely remixed their artists’ synth-pop studio tracks into acoustic guitar or piano versions. For Vivian Lai, who initially carried an idolized “Jade Girl” (玉女) image, this Unplugged single was proof of her genuine vocal capabilities beyond studio production tricks
