“My Paper Ring” (Chinese: 《初夏之恋》) is a popular Cantonese studio album and musical drama film released by Hong Kong singer and actor Ekin Cheng 郑伊健 in 1998 under the BMG (Ariola) record label.
The project was unique for its time, blending a 10-track studio album with a multi-million dollar music movie filmed entirely on location in Melbourne, Australia, capturing a romantic and nostalgic early-summer aesthetic.
郑伊健 初夏之恋 : The Plot
The story follows Ekin’s character, who travels all the way to Melbourne because of an old photograph of his ex-girlfriend, Wei Wei. When they reunite, the old sparks fly instantly. However, Wei Wei is already engaged to another man named Michael, leading to an emotional and bittersweet love triangle against the beautiful Australian backdrop.
