Paul Wong Koon-chung (黄贯中), known professionally as Paul Wong, is a renowned Hong Kong musician, singer, and actor, best known as the lead guitarist and occasional lead vocalist of the legendary rock band Beyond.
Profile and Key Achievements
Born on March 31, 1964, in Hong Kong, Paul Wong joined the band Beyond in 1985. He was not only the guitarist but also a primary songwriter for many of their hits, including “The Ground” (大地).
After Beyond announced a hiatus for individual development around 1999 (and officially disbanded in 2005), Wong launched his solo career and formed his own band, “Hann”.
Yellow Paul Wong: This is the title of his debut solo album, released in 2001. The album was a critical success, helping him win the “Gold Award as a Singer-songwriter” at the Ultimate Song Chart Awards Presentation for two consecutive years and establishing his solo identity.
